2014 wrap up!

What a huge year for libraries in 2014: we made it to the end! We’ve welcomed new regional coordinators in NSW, Victoria, WA, SA, and Qld; we’ve seen brand new state groups rise from the ashes in Tasmania and NT, and farewelled some of our friends who have moved on to greener pastures. In September, we had the ALIA National Conference which included the Students & New Graduates stream that was convened by our fabulous executive committee.

Some of our highlights for the year include:

  • Convening the ALIA National Conference Students & New Graduates stream;
  • the ALIA tweetup cardigan party at the conference;
  • Interview Skills, Resume & KSC presentations in various states;
  • a new look blog;
  • partnership events with organisations such as RIMPA and ALIA;
  • the WA Literary Dinner series (which we might have to roll out in other states!);

We are planning an action-packed 2015 for you all, including a National Resume Review, games events, more chances for online collaboration and discussion, and opportunities to meet LIS professionals at joint partnership events. If you want to put your two cents worth in, this is your chance to have a voice and tell us what you want! Send suggestions to us via the online form (you can even be anonymous and use your librarian secret identity if you want!)

Thank you to ALIA, NGAC, our regional coordinators, and our executive committee for their continued support and hardwork through 2014. And most importantly, thank you to all the lovely and hardworking students and new graduates out there for coming along to our events, getting involved, and sharing your experiences and thoughts about libraries and information services. Enjoy your holiday season!!
